Healing begins when you feel truly safe

Trauma can hide in plain sight, shaping how we think, feel, and relate to others without us even realising it. You don't have to have the words for what happened. You just have to be willing to begin.

Trauma Counselling

Trauma lives in the body, not just the mind

We carry our experiences in ways that go far beyond memory. Physical symptoms, chronic tension, anxiety, depression, a lack of spark, a sense of being permanently on edge are not imagined. They are the body's way of holding what the mind could not process at the time.

Working with you, we explore what you are feeling and I draw on an integrative approach that draws from different theories informed by the latest methods of processing trauma including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

How I can help you

Trauma work is never linear. We move at your pace, returning to things when you are ready and not before.

01

Creating a safe space

Before anything else, we build trust. You set the pace. There is no pressure to revisit anything before you feel ready. The relationship between us is the foundation everything else rests on.

02

Validating your experience

Much of what we carry has never been named, let alone validated. Part of this work is simply bearing witness, helping you see that what you went through was real, it mattered, and it makes sense that it has affected you the way it has.

03

Working through shame and fear

Shame thrives in silence. We bring it into the light, gently and carefully, and examine it together. Fear is not the enemy. It is a signal, and we learn to listen to it differently.

04

Developing self-compassion

This is often the hardest part. Many people are far kinder to others than they are to themselves. We work to bring your inner voice into balance, not to bypass the difficult feelings, but to hold them differently.

05

Rebuilding a sense of self

Trauma can fragment identity. As the work progresses, we begin to gather the pieces, not to return to who you were before, but to discover who you are now, with fuller access to your own strengths.

What the process of change looks like

Healing is not a straight line. But there is a direction of travel, from survival mode toward something more spacious. Here is how that journey often unfolds.

Every person is different. We honour that from the very first session.

Naming what happened

Finding language for experiences that may never have been spoken aloud before. This is often the first act of reclaiming ground.

Validating the impact

Understanding that your responses, however they show up, make complete sense given what you have been through.

Working through fear and shame

Not removing it, but learning to sit with it differently. To examine it without being swallowed by it.

Discovering your agency

The moment when the narrative shifts from things happening to you, toward recognising the power you do have. This is often quietly profound.

Moving forward on your terms

Not fixed, not the same as before. But grounded, more whole, and with better tools for whatever comes next.

You are not broken

"Until we address the roots of our fears, it's hard to move forward. Learning to be compassionate with ourselves is not weakness. It is the foundation of everything that follows."

We are biologically wired for survival. Fear is not a character flaw. It is the nervous system doing its job. The work of therapy is not to fight that, but to create a safe enough space that something different becomes possible.
