Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14/05/2026

Introduction

This privacy policy explains how Kala Bond Counselling ("I", "me", "my") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit this website or get in touch through the contact form.

This policy covers the information collected through this website only. Any information shared once we begin working together as counsellor and client is handled separately, in line with the BACP ethical framework, and will be discussed with you directly at the start of our work.

I am committed to protecting your privacy and handling your information in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and my professional obligations as a BACP-registered counsellor (Member No. 392454).

Who I Am

I am Kala Bond, a BACP-registered integrative counsellor based in London, offering online counselling worldwide and in-person sessions in London.

For the purposes of UK data protection law, I am the "data controller" of any personal information you share with me through this website.

What Information I Collect

Information you give me through the contact form

When you use the contact form on this website, I collect:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number
  • Your country of residence
  • Any details you choose to share in the message field about how I can help

Information collected automatically

When you visit this website, certain information is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies, including:

  • Your IP address and approximate location
  • Browser type and device information
  • Pages you visit and how long you spend on them

This information is used to understand how the website is performing and to improve it. See the "Cookies" section below for more detail.

Why I Collect Your Information

I only use the information you give me through this website for clearly defined reasons:

  • To respond to your enquiry and arrange a free 20-minute introductory call if appropriate
  • To let you know if I am unable to work with you (for example, due to regulatory restrictions in your country of residence)
  • To keep the website secure and improve how it works

Legal Basis for Processing Your Information

Under UK GDPR, I rely on the following legal bases for handling the information collected through this website:

  • Consent — when you submit the contact form, you consent to me using your details to respond
  • Legitimate interest — to keep the website functional, secure, and useful

How I Store and Protect Your Information

Contact form submissions are stored securely in a GDPR-compliant CRM (GoHighLevel), which is password-protected and accessible only by me.

I take reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Who I Share Your Information With

I do not sell your information to anyone. The only parties who may have access to the information you submit through this website are:

  • Trusted service providers who help me run the website and my practice, including my website host, CRM provider, and email provider. All are bound by their own data protection obligations.
  • Legal authorities — only if required to do so by law, court order, or other legal process.

How Long I Keep Your Information

  • Contact form enquiries that don't lead to sessions: 12 months, then deleted
  • Contact form enquiries from people I am unable to work with (e.g. clients based in the US or UAE): deleted within 30 days of the initial response

If we go on to work together as counsellor and client, separate retention rules apply to clinical records. These will be explained in the working agreement we sign at the start of our work together.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information I hold about you
  • Ask me to correct any inaccurate information
  • Ask me to delete your information, where there is no legal reason for me to keep it
  • Object to or restrict how I use your information
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis for processing
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk

To exercise any of these rights, please contact me on the email address above.

Cookies

This website uses cookies to function properly and to help me understand how visitors use the site. Cookies are small text files stored on your device.

The cookies used on this site fall into the following categories:

  • Essential cookies — required for the website to function
  • Analytics cookies — help me understand which pages are most useful (e.g. Google Analytics)

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect how the website works.

International Transfers

Some of the service providers I use (for example, my CRM and email systems) may store data on servers located outside the UK. Where this happens, I ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the UK government.

Changes to This Policy

I may update this privacy policy from time to time. The most recent version will always be available on this page, and the "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes.
